OMES Works to Protect State Citizens' Information
Oklahoma City - The Office of Management and Enterprise Services, in partnership with law enforcement and state and federal partners, is working around the clock to protect Oklahomans from fraud.
"Across the nation, states are experiencing unprecedented amounts of fraud related to Personally Identifiable Information (PII)," said OMES Director Steven Harpe. "The OMES CyberCommand team has been proactively looking for information that would indicate citizens' information has been compromised and reporting their findings to law enforcement so they can take action."
The OMES CyberCommand team works to find indications of compromised systems that could indicate citizens' data is at risk. This information could have been exposed due to one of the numerous national level breaches in the retail and financial sector.
"There are a lot of people hurting right now and the last thing they need is to deal with is identity fraud on top of a job loss or sickness," Harpe elaborated. "If, by using our team's experience in the tech sector and the tools available to us, we can help someone who desperately needs it, we are going to do everything in our power to make sure bad actors are not successful."
